Prithvi Mudra

Description

Touch the tips of your thumb and ring finger of both hands together. Keep the remaining three fingers extended straight without any tension or strain. Depending on your convenience, practice this hand posture three times a day, for few minutes each session.

Benefits and Features

  • This mudra stimulates the Muladhara Chakra (Root Chakra) in our body, eliminating physical and intellectual weaknesses.
  • It sharpens a person’s olfactory sense (the ability to perceive smell).
  • It is highly beneficial for improving the health of the skin, hair, nails, and bones.
  • By naturally increasing body heat, it brings new vitality and energy to the liver and stomach areas, and adds a natural radiance to the face.
  • It awakens positive, righteous virtues within us, such as kindness, compassion, love, patience, and peace, which are essential for a meaningful and successful life.

Science and Philosophy: The bones, muscles, skin, nervous system, and hair follicles in our body are made up of the Prithvi (Earth) element. Correspondingly, our five sense organs (Jnanaendriyas) that savor sound, form, taste, smell, and touch also function based on this very element. Therefore, regular practice of Prithvi Mudra brings these sensory organs into a state of perfect balance.
