Dhyana Mudra (The Gesture of Meditation / Contemplation)

Description and Technique

Sitting in a meditative posture, place your right hand on top of your left palm, resting them gently in your lap. In this position, the tips of both your thumbs should face each other and touch lightly. You may continue to hold this mudra for as long as required, depending on your daily spiritual practice.

Spiritual and Mental Benefits

  • This traditional mudra awakens deep tranquility, inner purity, and harmonious (Sattvic) qualities within one’s overall personality.
  • It is one of the finest practices to control scattered thoughts, enhance one-pointed concentration on a single focal point, and center your inner vital energy.
  • This posture, which we frequently observe in statues of Lord Buddha and ancient yogis, provides a divine experience of supreme and absolute peace to the human mind.
