Sukshma Shwasanala Mudra (The Subtle Bronchial Gesture)

Description and Technique

This mudra must be formed simultaneously with both hands. First, fold your pinky finger and touch it to the base (bottom) of your thumb. Next, place your ring finger on the upper joint of the thumb. Finally, join the tip of your middle finger with the tip of your thumb. Throughout this gesture, keep your index finger completely straight and relaxed.

Practice Duration and Protocol

  • At the very onset of an asthma attack or breathing difficulty, practice this mudra immediately for at least five minutes.
  • Following this, it is essential to practice the ‘Asthma Mudra’ continuously until your breathing pattern completely returns to a normal, stable state.
  • For long-term healing of chronic respiratory issues, both of these mudras should be practiced regularly five times a day, for about 5 minutes each session.
