Asthma Mudra (The Respiratory Relief Gesture)

Description and Technique

Fold the middle fingers of both your hands and press the backs of their fingernails firmly against each other. While doing this, keep all the remaining fingers (thumbs, index, ring, and pinky fingers) extended straight and completely free without any strain.

Practice Protocol during Distress

  • In the event of a sudden and severe asthma attack or acute breathing difficulty, one must first perform the ‘Sukshma Shwasanala Mudra’.
  • Immediately following that, this Asthma Mudra should be performed continuously until the breathing pattern becomes perfectly rhythmic and returns to its natural state.

Chronic Care

For the long-term management and healing of chronic respiratory issues, it is highly recommended to practice both mudras (Sukshma Shwasanala Mudra and Asthma Mudra) daily for 5 minutes each, repeated five times a day.
